  • Banner comodín Firm-level innovation and economic performance. An evolutionary perspective

The objective of this study is to analyze, from an evolutionary perspective, the main theoretical aspects of the relationship between innovation and firm performance.  This analysis focuses on mechanisms that translate the development of capabilities and introduction of innovations into competitive advantages, which in the context of the competition define the possibilities of the firms to increase their market share, displacing competitors and improving its economic and productive performance.  It provides that the firms strategies, depending on knowledge exploration and exploitation, determine the different mechanisms mediating the relationship between innovation and three performance actions taken: productivity, employment and exports.

The work was developed in the framework of incubation of the Center for Interdisciplinary Studies in Science, Technology and Innovation (CIECTI), an institutional space sponsored by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Productive Innovation which is aimed at analysis, design and impact assessment of policies focused in STI promotion.

The CIECTI central mission will be to provide an interdisciplinary platform, with regional projection from the very beginning, to strengthen the actions that the Ministry and the Department of Planning and Policy in particular, have been carrying out to put the STI at the service of an economic development project based on the principles of social inclusion and environmental sustainability.

Currently, the CIECTI is under the incubation phase, whose responsibility falls to the consortium formed by three entities created specifically for this purpose: the National University of Quilmes, the National University General Sarmiento and the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences.
