RAICES Programme - Network of Argentinean Researchers and Scientists living abroad

The Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, created through the National Directorate of International Relations, the RAICES Programme. In 2008 the programme was declared State policy by the Law 26,421.

The RAICES Programme aims to strengthen the scientific and technological capabilities of the country through the development of linkage policies with Argentinean researchers living abroad, as well as measures destined to promote the retention of researchers in the country and the return of those interested in carrying out their activities in Argentina.


  • Develop linking networks with Argentinean researchers living abroad.
  • Disseminate scientific and technological activities of Argentina in foreign countries; improve the quality and availability of information about highly skilled Argentinean researchers and professionals living abroad.
  • integrate Argentinean researchers living abroad to the scientific research, technological development and innovation activities promoted by the Government through the Ministry of Science, Technology and Productive Innovation, the National Agency for Science and Technology Promotion, the National Council of Scientific and Technical Research (CONICET) and other government agencies that promote science and technology
  • Facilitate the return of those highly trained researchers, technologists and professionals who wish to return and continue their careers in Argentinian institutions
  • Involve the country's productive sector, foundations and NGOs in the programme's activities.
