The Ministry of Science, Technology and Productive Innovation, through the National Agency for Scientific and Technological Promotion, will subsidize the incorporation of 81 PhD researchers and 119 support professionals in universities across the country. Fellowships will be for 3 years and later, beneficiaries will be incorporated into institutions of higher education through the Secretariat of University Policies of the Ministry of Education. Professionals will work in technology transfer projects to solve specific problems of each geographical area.

Goldbaum: "the tool is designed for doctors with less than 5 years of degree, so that their careers are oriented to technology transfer from the beginning".

Positions for fellowships are part of the call "Doctors in universities for D-TEC technology transfer 2013" and will benefit 22 universities across the country. It will require an investment by the Science portfolio of nearly $100 million of which nearly 20 correspond to subsidies for research projects. According to Fernando Goldbaum, president of the agency, "the tool is designed for doctors with less than 5 years of degree, so that their careers are oriented to technology transfer from the beginning".

Goldbaum also stressed the federal component of the initiative: "Many universities across the country do not have doctors working in the human resources training and research projects to solve specific problems". It should be noted that 56 % of human resources to be funded will be located in the interior of the country. The tool also includes coverage for moving costs and residence for researchers who choose to move to other provinces to participate in the projects.

Among the selected initiatives are the Army University Institute, staffed by doctors specialized in psychology and social sciences, in order to develop protocols and procedures for primary psychological care to victims of natural disasters and human resources training. Furthermore, the National University of Santiago del Estero will incorporate doctors specialized in forestry, food, agriculture and renewable energy, to support the development of rural communities in different places of the province. The University of La Matanza will also focus to the software development, image processing and development of instrumentation for medical care. In addition, doctors to join the University of Formosa will work on biology, nutrition, and management of wild fauna and flora in the Argentine humid Chaco for development of new healthy eating options for specific conditions of regional impact. Finally, another important project is the University of the Centre of the Province of Buenos Aires, in Tandil, where professionals will be dedicated to the development of sensor networks to improve animal production.

The Doctors in Universities call was designed by the National Agency of Science and Technology Promotion together with the Ministry of Planning and Policy in Science, Technology and Productive Innovation, both from the ministry of Science, the National Council for Scientific and Technical Research (CONICET) and the Secretariat of University Policies of the Ministry of Education.
