The new Tecnópolis edition, formally opened this morning by Argentine President Mauricio Macri along with part of his Ministers of Cabinet, was already visited by around 46,000 people. The great Art, Science and Technology exhibition, organized by the Media and Public Contents Federal System and the Ministry of Science, Technology and Productive Innovation, is open every day from 12 to 8 pm during the Winter Holidays and afterwards, from Thursday to Sunday until October 10 in its traditional venue located in Villa Martelli. It is free of charge as usual.

We are very happy due to the re-opening of Tecnópolis hoping this venue is a meeting point for all the Argentine people, President Mauricio Macri stated during the opening.

“We are very happy due to the re-opening of Tecnópolis hoping this venue is a meeting point for all the Argentine people”, President Macri stated during the opening. In addition, the President said: “During the new stage Argentina is going through, we want you to be the protagonists of that future we all want to share”.

Hernán Lombardi, head of the Media and Public Contents Federal System stressed: “60% of the contents are new and they have much to do with social networks. We observed a huge amount of children following YouTube, YouNow, Snapchat contents and other words that were unfamiliar to us at that moment and today, they are the new stars”.

On his part, the minister of Science, Technology and Productive Innovation, Lino Barañao, stated that in this new edition “a key policy of this Ministry, the popularization of science, is maintained. In this sense, the aim of Tecnópolis has always been to attract young people towards science because the future is there”. In this regard, the Minister expressed he would like “children to come not only for fun but also to learn”.

Even though the Ministry of Science has its traditional spaces, some special ones have been added to this edition: “There are new attractions, such as the design stand that we are proud of because it is part of a scientific policy as well as an opportunity for the future work of many children who visit it”, Barañao explained.

Accordingly, the head of the scientific portfolio concluded: “I think including new areas, such as the space for inventors, are essential innovations that involve a broader view of the future of the country. We have always said that Tecnópolis is a 3-D postcard of the Argentina we want to have and not a utopia, since it already exists in the present”.
