Science portfolio drives the development of the chemical and petrochemical industries

Through an agreement and a supplementary agreement, the Ministry and the Chamber of Chemical and Petrochemical Industry entered into an agreement seeking sustainably increase the competitiveness of the productive sector.

Documents were signed by the Minister Barañao, the Secretary of the Department of Planning and Policy of the Science portfolio, Ruth Ladenheim, and the executive director of the Chamber of the Chemical and Petrochemical Industries, José María Fumagalli.

Today morning, the Minister of Science, Technology and Productive Innovation, Lino Barañao, signed with the executive director of the Chamber of the Chemical and Petrochemical Industries, José María Fumagalli, a cooperation agreement for the promotion of the chemical and petrochemical activities in our country. Through this agreement, the Ministry of Science committed to work with the Chamber of the Chemical and Petrochemical Industries in planning and implementation of activities related to research, development and innovation of chemicals inputs for oil and gas industry. A Supplementary Agreement, was also signed by the Secretary of the Department of Planning and Policy of the Science portfolio, Ruth Ladenheim and Fumagalli.

Barañao celebrated the signing of the agreement and said that "we are combining two key resources for any country, energy and information. I think this combination allows us to pursue a significant growth in the coming decades".

He also welcomed the establishment of the Y-TEC, institution where YPF, the Ministry and the National Council for Scientific and Technical Research (CONICET) participated and he assured that this "is a bet that we are taking on different fronts which shows the will of the science and technology to the service of the economic and social development".

Meanwhile, Ladenheim said: "This agreement is the beginning of a new stage, where we seek enhancing, through various financing instruments in the Ministry, of the competitiveness and the creation of new research and development projects".

Workshops and technical meetings were held, where results of the operative plan of the implementation table of technologies for oil and gas were presented, and advances concerning the "Project for Research and Innovation in the Technology Area called Enhanced Oil Recovery", EOR Project were informed. The closing ceremony was in charge of the Under Secretary of Policies on Science, Technology and Productive Innovation, Fernando Peirano.
