Lino Barañao participated in the launch of BioArgentina 2014

The Science Minister closed the presentation event of the Argentina Chamber of Biotechnology (CAB) attended by entrepreneurs, researchers and officials who agreed in emphasize the importance of new spaces designed to stimulate the development of biotechnology.

The Minister of Science, Technology and Productive Innovation, Lino Barañao, closed the BioArgentina 2014 presentation event organized by the Argentina Chamber of Biotechnology (CAB) and presented awards to the personalities making up the Council of Notables of the institution. BioArgentina 2014 is expected for November next year, its central objective will be to contribute to a better public-private cooperation in the sector.

During his speech, the Minister Barañao said:  "The aim of biotechnology development in Argentina should be to generate a big bang, i.e., to cause a big change that helps human beings to face their current challenges, such as the increased demand for food, best medicines and clean energy. Argentina should face a substantive development, through a gradual but without return process".

During the launch event, distinctions were given to three pioneers of biotechnology in Argentina: Mr. Eduardo Charreau, Superior Emeritus researcher at CONICET and president of the Foundation Institute of Biology and Experimental Medicine and Alberto Carlos Frasch, Dean of the Institute of Biotechnology Research and 2013 Konex Award in Science and Technology, and Rogelio Fogante, AAPRESID founding member and pioneer in the use of direct seeding in Argentina.

Ruth Ladenheim, Secretary of Planning and Policy and Alejandro Mentaberry executive coordinator of the Scientific and Technological Cabinet accompanied the Minister Barañao.
