This morning, the Fundación Pablo Cassará launched the Technological Antenna project: Platform for technological supervision and competitive intelligence.

“This is a fundamental tool for the productive sector to be able to get closer to technological and research projects, as it allows business people to learn about technological progress in their field".

The official opening was presided by Dr. Ruth Ladenheim and the Director of Departments of the Argentine Industrial Union (Unión Industrial Argentina, UIA), Eduardo Bianco.

Technological Antenna is a platform to perform technological supervision and competitive intelligence for different productive sectors; it has been developed by the Department of Planning and Policy of this Ministry together with the UIA through the VINTEC Programme. Technological supervision is a process that identifies relevant information about trends, news from customers, inventions, and potential partners and competitors. Such data are coded and analysed and provide the opportunity to design and plan technological strategies, minimizing context uncertainty. Thus, this platform offers such products and services as electronic newsletters with news about technological, scientific, business, regulatory, legislative-related contents, financing opportunities, activities to publicize and raise awareness on the use of such new tools.

On a supplementary basis, intelligence deals with the analysis, management of information, assessment and management of processes involving strategic decisions within companies and entities, integrating systems designed for technological supervision, business, competitors and environments, among others.  Therefore, activities of this type are intended to improve competitiveness of companies and economic sectors, by reducing the levels of risk and the complexity existing in innovation processes, encouraging the creation of solid bases for establishing sustainable competitive behaviours.

About this, Dr. Ladenheim stressed the importance of this project: “This is a fundamental tool for the productive sector to be able to get closer to technological and research projects, as it allows business people to learn about technological progress in their field. For instance, a business person doing business in the plastic sector may be aware of the latest publications available concerning patents, who are the patent holders, which are the most important companies in the world, research being performed and any news in connection with their topic of interest.” Such officer assured that Technological Antenna will facilitate networking between companies and the technological scientific sector of our country, and through its federalization “we expect that this platform may be used by different system sectors, researchers and technologists, not only companies.”This tool will be improved and extended along the time, and in 2014 we are planning to offer data about food, and oil and gas sectors”, she concluded.

To date, this platform offers results about three different sectors: Plastic containers for the food industry, and the technological innovations that may be identified in the textile and auto-part sectors. Through Technological Antenna, different business chambers and associations, companies, governmental agencies, public and private entities engaged in research may have access to quality information that will strengthen their strategic capabilities. This initiative originated in the Framework Agreement signed between the Under Secretariat of Studies and Prospective of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Productive Innovation and the UIA.

Other officers participated in this event, such as the Under Secretary of Studies and Prospective of the Ministry, Mr. Jorge Robbio; and the National Director of Studies from the Ministry of Science, Dr. Engr. Martin Villanueva, who launched the platform. Later, there were two panels of experts who held discussion about technological supervision and competitive intelligence tools.
