The Ministry of Science, Technology and Productive Innovation, Dr. Lino Barañao, participated in the inaugural day of the National Week of the Technological Entrepreneur, which was held in the Stem Cells Space of Tecnópolis. Organized by the Department of Planning and Policies, this activity shall take place between September 1st and 8th, and seeks to promote and stimulate the intensive use of scientific and technological knowledge produced in the scope of the National System of Science, Technology and Innovation by companies and organizations of the productive sector.

“Not all university graduates can be made entrepreneurs, an ecosystem should be created for those who have that intention to be able to develop. But this has to go beyond that and share the risk, since it is does not make sense that the risk be taken by the individual alone”

In that regard, minister Barañao sustained: “Not all university graduates can be made entrepreneurs, an ecosystem should be created for those who have that intention to be able to develop. But this has to go beyond that and share the risk, since it is does not make sense that the risk be taken by the individual alone”. The minister of Science explained that  “it is not enough to make an investment, we should create the conditions in which companies may subsist and produce their results in the country itself, and to make sure that the work they generate is produced locally. We want to advance towards an economy where knowledge is what creates value. That is the country's profile we think is possible to reach”, he concluded.

The Minister was joined by the secretary of Planning and Policies, Dr. Ruth Ladenheim, who stressed the role that knowledge plays in the search for transforming the national productive matrix. In that regard, Dr. Ladenheim commented: “The technological entrepreneur is important since he contributes to the growth and diversification of productive structures, and also to elevate the average productivity of the economy. We are satisfied that currently in Argentina there is a virtuous process of creation of companies with technological base, with the positive consequences derived thereof for the productive matrix and the quality of life of the Argentine people”.

The objective of the National Week of the Technological Entrepreneur is to promote and generate a participation space for those who are interested in getting to know the local and regional business world, as well as the incorporation of tools and the development of skills to detect business opportunities with a scientific and technological base. Moreover, it seeks to strengthen and invigorate the networks of business and existing suppliers, through the incorporation of new actors not traditionally business-related who may generate a new productive ecosystem which will result in higher levels of competitiveness of the chains of value maximizing the country's sustainable development.

In order to face these needs, actions are being taken to stimulate the incorporation of processes of research, development and innovation (R+D+i) and of transfer of knowledge in 19 provinces of the country and the City of Buenos Aires. Workshops, courses and different initiatives with their own subject matter aimed at institutions, public and private organizations, entrepreneurs, industrials, teachers, researchers, scholarships holders and worker cooperatives, among other actors, will be useful to generate regional nodes of entrepreneurs and technological businessmen and to contribute to society's wellbeing.

During the afternoon talks were held on entrepreneurship and its different sides, in which participated the under secretary of Policies of the Ministry, Sc.B. Fernando Peirano, laboratory representatives and entrepreneurs.
