A workshop on 3D printing technology in the auto parts sector was performed

The activity took place in the context of the various actions being taken by the ministry of Science for the dissemination of this technology.

The opening ceremony of the meeting was led by Fernando Peirano, Undersecretary for Policy, accompanied by Luis Garicoits, technical manager of the Association of Argentinean Autoparts Manufacturers (AFAC).

The Ministry of Science, Technology and Productive Innovation, through the Ministry of Planning and Policy in Science, Technology and Innovation organized this morning a workshop on 3D printing technology in the auto parts industry, with the aim of spreading the scope and different uses of this technology and present the financial instruments offered by the ministry of Science.

The opening of the meeting was led by Fernando Peirano, Undersecretary for Policy, who was accompanied by Luis Garicoits, technical manager of the Association of Argentinean Autoparts Manufacturers (AFAC). After welcoming the participants to the workshop, the undersecretary said that "since the creation of the Ministry it is our aim linking science and technology to the resolution of problems both social and productive". He also referred to the work performed under the National Plan Argentina Innovadora 2020 and the importance of planning to identify productive and innovation challenges: "The opportunity of working with 3D printers opens up a new range of opportunities", Peirano said, and he explained regarding to this discipline that the Ministry is strengthening the dissemination of 3D printing and showing "Argentina as a country using this technology but also developing it".

During the workshop, the Ministry authorities provided an overview of the subject at local level and the national companies Trimaker, KikaiLabs and Replikat made a presentation and answered queries from other manufacturers and attendees.

Finally, detailed information was provided related to the various financial instruments offered by the Ministry in order to promote the development and implementation of this technology in the production areas. In this sense, it should be mentioned that the call for submission of projects of innovation, development and adoption of 3D printing technology is open until July 31.
