Mr Jorge Mariano Jordán

National Director for Cooperation and Institutional Integration

He has obtained his university degree in International Relations at Universidad de Belgrano (UB, University of Belgrano) and he got his Master’s Degree in Diplomacy at Academia Diplomática Brasileña, Instituto Rio Branco (Brazilian Diplomatic Academy, Rio Branco Institute) in Brasilia, Brazil. Since 1999, he has been working in the National Foreign Service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship, for which he serves the function of representing Argentina abroad and in several agencies of the National Government. He is currently  Minister Plenipotentiary, Second Class Category C. He was the tenured lecturer of the subject “History of Latin American International Relations” at Universidad del Salvador (USAL, University of El Salvador) and professor of the subject “Theory of International Relations” at Universidad Católica de Salta (UCASAL, Catholic University of Salta.)

The National Directorate for Institutional Cooperation and Integration has the primary role of dealing with institutional cooperation and integration actions between the Ministry and the organizations and authorities of the different branches of government in the national, provincial or municipal levels and that of the City of Buenos Aires, and between regional entities and intermediate institutions. It also deals with the design and implementation of public policies aimed at young actors involved in science, technology and productive innovation, for the purpose of promoting support for such policies.

His functions also include participation in international technical cooperation affairs related to science, technology and productive innovation.

Main responsabilities:

  • Dealing with the development of actions designed to optimise the institutional relations of the Ministry with the Argentine National Congress.
  • Helping the Minister in the coordination of the relations established with the provincial and municipal governments and that of the City of Buenos Aires.
  • Dealing, within the scope of jurisdiction of the Ministry, with institutional matters regarding the relations with civil entities and corporations, as well as those relations with non-governmental organizations.
  • Collaborating with the areas of the jurisdiction on the design of plans, programmes and projects within the scope of jurisdiction of the Ministry in order to coordinate with the other jurisdictions and organizations the actions aimed at promoting local and regional development.
  • Participating in bilateral agreements related to the fields of science, technology and innovation with foreign governments.
  • Collaborating with the areas of the jurisdiction on the design, assessment and follow-up of the ministerial plans, programmes and projects, and proposing measures designed to optimise their management and coordination with other jurisdictions and/or organizations.
  • Helping in the institutional coordination, design and implementation of public policies aimed at young actors involved in science, technology and productive innovation.
  • Intervening in every matter related to bilateral, regional and multilateral cooperation programmes, as well as those of international cooperation with companies, within the scope of jurisdiction.

International cooperation

The National Directorate for Cooperation and Integration promotes the strengthening of the international cooperation –with a foreign or multilateral country- as a strategic tool in the design of policies and the development of science, technology and productive innovation at a national level.
